HAT TIP TO THE PAST
Built in 1966 Hotel Saint Regis stood above the rest in grandeur and elegance in the heart of New Center. Ebony oak wood and imported French molding decorated the vintage old world style décor and was quickly designated the ‘Gem of Detroit’ by Detroiters and visitors alike. During its grand opening the property held the prestigious record as the most luxurious and expensive hotel in the United States, being one of the first to offer 25” color television in their guest rooms. The façade of this historic building is built of limestone and the porte-cochere welcomed many top executives and famous guests such as the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
